What is Data Sovereignty?

Data sovereignty is a concept that refers to control over and responsibility for digital data. Those who have data sovereignty are the masters of their own data and have full control over access at all times and can control who else can view this data. In this way, data sovereignty answers the questions of who owns data, who is allowed to store and use it, and how it should be stored and protected.
