What is a Data Processing Agreement (DPA)?

As soon as personal data is transferred to and processed by third parties in accordance with the GDPR, a data processing agreement (DPA) must be concluded. The DPA regulates the obligations and rights between clients and contractors. It defines the subject matter, purpose, and nature of the processing.

The processor (a natural/legal person, a company, association, or foundation) must fulfill the data processing in accordance with the legally prescribed regulations. The Data Protection Officer assists in the preparation and review of the document.
