What is cloning an issue in Jira?

Cloning an issue in Jira implies copying an issue. In the given condition, the clone of the original issue is created. The clone consists of the same information as present in the original issue. Cloning of the issue is carried out such that multiple users are capable of working on the same issue.

In JIRA, it is possible to clone a task or issue for creating a copy of the useful components of the issue. Upon cloning the issue, Jira creates a new issue with the same title and description like the one you have cloned. It copies information from other fields.
