What is an iteration in Agile?

An iteration in Agile is a time period in which work is created and tested. Each iteration has a fixed deadline by which the tasks must be completed. Typically, such an iteration lasts two weeks, but can be chosen to be of varying length in agile teams.

These iterative cycles are at the core of Agile. Here it is important that performance is delivered at regular intervals. This gives customers the opportunity to monitor the product during the development phase and provide feedback at an early stage.

Work steps in agile iterations are repeated until the result is optimal in quality.
