What is a stakeholder?

A stakeholder is someone who is interested in a company because this person is influenced by the business or wants to influence it. Typically, stakeholders are employees, customers, investors, or suppliers.

Therefore, stakeholders can be internal or external. Since stakeholders have a strong and legitimate interest in the company’s developments, they should be informed on a regular basis.

As stakeholders provide different levels and backgrounds of expertise from different backgrounds, they also have different interests. The challenge is to satisfy all of them and to make compromises in project planning.
