Atlassian Server end of life: Support expires for Server licenses

You already know it: On February 2nd, 2021 the sale of new Atlassian Server licenses ended. Ever since server products have not been further developed. On February 15, 2024, the support for all server products will end.

Which products do the changes apply to?

The stop of license sales and support affects:

  • Exceptions: Server licenses for Fisheye and Crucible can still be purchased. For Bamboo, a Bamboo Data Center version is currently under development. Meanwhile, server licenses can be purchased for this version as well.

Why are Atlassian server licenses no longer sold/supported?

Cloud products are the future. Accordingly, Atlassian wants to sharpen its product range in this respect. This way, Atlassian can better and faster respond to the individual needs of customers.

What are the specific changes and deadlines for the server products?

  • As of 02/02/2022, no upgrades or downgrades will be possible. After this deadline, only critical bugs will be fixed for servers.

  • From 02/02/2023 no licenses will be sold for existing server customers.

  • End of support: No support or updates for server products and apps will be offered after 02/02/2024.

Can I just keep using my server products?

You can, but for security reasons this is not recommended after February 02, 2024. After this date, there won’t be any security updates. Cloud migration is easier than many people think. We’d be happy to tell you more about the opportunities and benefits in a free initial consultation.

  • The cost of Data Center licenses will increase.

  • However, there will be a discount for existing customers migrating from Server to Data Center or Cloud. The earlier the migration takes place, the higher the discount can be.
