Data Protection and Security Toolkit — Release v4.5.0

Built for scale: faster searches, a rebuilt audit log, and a modernised experience.

With v4.5.0, we’ve focused on the parts of the product that matter most to our largest customers. Drawing on insights from real-world usage across big Jira and Confluence instances, we’ve reworked core systems to deliver faster pages, smoother searches, and a more polished interface — without changing the workflows you already rely on.

Highlights

A faster, more efficient search engine

The worker that powers scheduled and webhook-triggered searches has been re-architected from the ground up. Parallelism has been restored to full throughput, and per-search memory is now bounded and predictable. For customers running large tenants, this translates into more consistent search performance and a noticeably more stable experience overall.

A rebuilt audit log

The audit log dashboard now loads recent entries instantly, instead of pulling the full history on every visit. When you need the complete record, a dedicated streaming export handles large datasets cleanly and efficiently.

Smarter handling of advanced regex patterns

Some advanced regex constructs — lookahead, lookbehind, and backreferences — aren’t supported by the search engine. These patterns are now detected and rejected at rule creation, and gracefully skipped if encountered elsewhere, so a single unsupported rule no longer affects the rest of your searches.

A modernised interface

Buttons and icons across the application have been migrated to the latest Atlassian Design System, bringing a cleaner, more consistent look that aligns with the rest of your Atlassian tooling.

Additional Improvements

  • Faster health checks. Probes are now fast and bounded, regardless of tenant size.
  • Lower database load from webhooks. Tenants without “Trigger on content update” templates no longer hit the database on every event.
  • Reduced calls to Confluence. Unused content webhooks and redundant content fetches have been removed.
  • Draft scheduled templates. Scheduled templates can now be saved as drafts without filling in every field upfront. Enabling them still requires a valid schedule.
  • Nightly cleanup of orphan records. Long-standing orphan entries in search history are now cleaned up nightly with a 24-hour safety window, and new bulk deletes no longer create them.
  • German translation fix for the 100-rule limit dialog.
  • Structured backend logs to help our support team investigate and resolve issues more quickly.

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where unsupported regex rules could interrupt a search run.
  • Improved search-history cleanup in the rare case where a search fails after starting.
  • A number of smaller fixes and stability improvements across the application.

As always, thank you to the customers and partners who helped shape this release. If you have feedback or run into anything unexpected, we’d love to hear from you.
