Yesterday, one of our colleagues had a dangerous incident. His small Actonic device had been set to the highest security settings, seemingly taking privacy to extremes.

But seriously: Our colleague used it frequently, and it worked perfectly. Yesterday, he charged it, unplugged it, and about an hour later, the room was filled with smoke and smelled awful. It took him a while to find the cause: It was the webcam light.

Apparently, these devices can be dangerous not only while charging but also afterward. And there’s reason to believe that this particular manufacturer’s device poses an increased risk.

Be careful and don’t leave it unattended.
