How to create a Postmortem Report<\/strong><\/h3>\n

While the analysis<\/span> will show you why something happened and what you can do about it, the first step requires you to create a report. This tracks what exactly happened and at what time<\/span>. Opsgenie’s Postmortem Report<\/span> summarizes all the important information in a format that is easy for users to understand.<\/p>\n

To get the most out of the analytics, you need to create the Postmortem Report<\/span> first. We will show you what you need to pay attention to.<\/p>\n

Requirements for a Postmortem Report<\/strong><\/p>\n

    You must have an enterprise plan to access incidents and the documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    You must mark the incident as resolved or closed so that a follow-u<\/span>p can be performed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A Postmortem Report can be created in two ways: Either through the incident details page or on the analytics<\/span> page. We will show you both ways.<\/p>\n

    Create Postmortem Report from incident details<\/h3>\n

    1. Navigate to \u201cIncidents\u201d and select an incident.<\/p>\n

    2. Once an incident is marked as closed or resolved, a new section (Postmortem) is displayed:<\/p>\n

    3. Now click on \u201cCreate Postmortem\u201d to create and open a template.<\/p>\n

    4. Then, you can edit the layout of the template and add any structure you want. A few fields like ICC session or duration of incident cannot be edited.<\/p>\n

    5. You can find the list of created reports at \u201cAnalytics<\/span>\u201d \u2192 \u201cPostmortem\u201d.<\/p>\n

    Create a Postmortem from the reports section<\/h3>\n

      Navigate to \u201cIncidents\u201d and select the desired incident.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      Update the status of the incident and set it to \u201cResolved\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      Go to Analytics \u2192 Postmortem and click on \u201cCreate Postmortem.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    4. \n

      In this step, you can select the incident to which you want to assign the Postmortem Report.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    5. \n

      Again, you can customize the layout of the template to your liking.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    6. \n

      If your Opsgenie account is under an Atlassian site, you can also <\/span>export the report to Confluence.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
